Snowmass is the largest of the four with 94 trails through 3,300 acres of terrain. The total vertical rise of 4,406 feet is the highest in the U.S. The ski resort includes three terrain parks, a superpipe and a beginner pipe. With 150 miles of trails, Snowmass offers cruisers, steeps and everything in between.

Aspen

The town of Aspen sits at the foot of Aspen Mountain which is the oldest of the four area ski resorts. Known for its black diamond terrain, Aspen Mountain also offers ample backcountry skiing. Its 675 acres and 76 trails skew towards intermediate and advanced skiers.

Many skiers prefer all that Aspen Highlands has to offer: 3,600 feet of vertical rise and 84 miles of trails with great views of the Maroon Bells, one of the most picturesque spots in Colorado. Not to mention the infamous Highlands Bowl. Terrain ranges from easy to expert.

Buttermilk is a relatively easy, family-oriented ski mountain that’s earned a reputation for extreme entertainment as the long-time host of the Winter X Games. The smallest of the four Aspen-area resorts, Buttermilk has a 470 acre footprint with 21 miles of trails-44 trails in all. Sure it has the world-renowned 22-foot superpipe, but beginners can have a memorable experience on their own Panda Pipe! Buttermilk is also the home of the newly rebuilt Powder Panda facility.
